Cold Plunge Therapy
At Combat Recovery Center, cold plunge is a core part of how our athletes recover between training sessions and after competition. The moment you hit the water, your body responds fast: heart rate spikes, breathing sharpens, and blood vessels constrict to protect your core — the classic cold shock response. Within the first couple minutes, that shock gives way to a surge of norepinephrine, sparking the mental clarity and mood boost cold exposure is known for while inflammation starts to drop. By the 3–5 minute mark, your body settles into a controlled stress response that helps numb pain, limit swelling, and flush metabolic waste from overworked muscles and joints — exactly what a fighter's body needs after hard training or a fight. Most of the benefit is captured within 5–8 minutes, which is why our sessions are dialed into that window: enough to drive real recovery without unnecessary strain. The result is less soreness, faster turnaround between sessions, sharper focus, and a body better prepared for what's next.
